Project Description
Championed by CSAW MS Fellow Finn Gillette, CSAW’s Brownfields Project promotes partnerships between communities and researchers to engage on remediation of existing Brownfields, potentially seek designation of new ones, and addresses environmental injustices of Brownfield impacts. CSAW researchers have expertise and laboratory capacity to assess soil, groundwater, and surface water impacts of brownfields. In this effort, CSAW can develop important research questions around soil-water interface; fate and transport of toxics; as well as stakeholder input in brownfield regulation and decision making. CSAW partners can work with impacted communities to better understand and advocate for remediation of Brownfields.
