CSAW in Action: Exposing Violations of the Clean Water Act

CSAW MS Fellows Thérèse Kelly and Finn Gillette were taking water samples along the South River when the pair noticed turbid, black water that normally ran clear. After alerting CSAW Faculty Fellow Sarah Ledford, the team tracked the source of the pollution to a days-burning mulch fire. Water samples from downstream of the fire had E. coli levels well-above state guidelines.
